I feel like I will never truly understand a poem unless it is read and preformed. Both aspects bring in different types of senses you are using. When I read the Elemental Women I was able to engage my eyes to read the words and also use my mind to try to understand the main story the poem is trying to express. When this poem was preformed aloud then it gave it expression and engaged my ears, sight, and eyes. I was able to see how the poem can be relatable and when I watched the original performance of the poem I further understood the meaning the poem was trying to express. When the Elemental Women was preformed I was also able to connect to the persons culture, personality, and who they are as a person. Elemental Women speaks for the human experiences that a women can go through. It makes me feel like the women in the poem is trapped to certain standards of being a women when she wants to do her own choices in life. It is clear that this poem expresses the inequality that a women experiences in her normal daily life. I find myself relating a lot to this poem since I can relate to the standards held above me as a women.
