RP Proposal Draft

Relating to my last essay, I want to further explore the connections of how women poets effect poetry. What is the difference between male and female poets? How represented are female poets compared to males? I think it would be interesting to explore the different details that women poets explore compared to males perspective. Possibly understanding one event or impact being expressed through both genders. I could explore the barriers women faced in different cultures and how they were able to break from their cultural norms to express themselves. This research would fit into either the 2nd box or the 6th box since it explore social identity but also gender identity and how women play a role in poetry society.

Sources I would use…

I could use the resources we have previously explored in unit 1 and 2 since a majority of the essays were written by women in poetry society. Amanda Gorman uses her voice to speak in politics which is a gender that is not well recognized in American Politics. She creates an impact not only for poetry but also helps bring motivation and awareness to younger women in society. I could use all of the essays in the Caribbean unit since they are all written by women. I could research further into Caribbean poetry essays written by men or find performances of poetry written by women but performed by men and how it does not create an impact on how the poem should be expressed. I think researching famous women poets and how they contributed to society and how they impacted literature. I could also interview women on campus who are also taking poetry classes and explore the experiences or the poets they are impacted by.
