Belichick v. Brady

The SNF matchup between Tom Brady and his former team brought back up the long term debate that NFL fans have been questioning for years. Would Tom Brady have the success he has without coach Belichick behind him?

Sunday night, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers beat his old team by a missed field goal kick. If the Patriots’ kicker would’ve made it, they would’ve defeated Tom Brady and the rest of the defending Super Bowl champs. However, the kick wasn’t an easy one to make. With Mac Jones under center, it forced the Patriots kicker to kick a 56 yard field goal, which he missed. However, the closeness of the game really didn’t make a good argument for either side.

Brady’s offense has multiple weapons, and the Bucs have largely been considered a “superteam” as of last season. Of course, the 7-time Super Bowl champion doesn’t need much support on why he is great, but most fans can agree on the fact that Brady wouldn’t be nearly as successful as he is without Bill Belichick.

Perhaps the Patriots would’ve won if they would’ve had an older, more experienced QB leading the last drive, or if they had a better kicker. But, they did lose, and Tom Brady was able to get yet another win in Foxborough. It is clear to see that New England does have another bright future with rookie Mac Jones, but it will take some building to get him to become even half the player Brady is.

The debate remains unresolved, at least until Brady and Belichick meet again.
