Race for the AFC

It’s pretty clear that the AFC is wide open in terms of which team will be the champion this year. Last year’s favorites, the Kansas City Chiefs are no where close to the top; seeing as they are currently last in their own division. If Andy Reid and his team can’t manage to turn things around, it could be any teams’s for the taking.

Right now, the Chargers and Bills lead the AFC with records of 4-1. The Chargers, led by Justin Herbert, have proved themselves in ways no one expected. Their win against the Chiefs in week 3 was considered a fluke by many, until time showed that the AFC West wasn’t going to be as easy for the Chiefs to take this season.

The division leaders as of right now are the Bills, Chargers, Ravens and Titans. Tonight’s game, featuring the Baltimore Ravens (who have now put on quite a few entertaining primetime games) and the Indianapolis Colts is a pretty important one. If the Colts can pull off the upset, it would help them close the 2-game gap between Tennessee. It would also place Baltimore at 3-2, making the AFC North a 3-way tie between the Ravens, Bengals, and Browns.

However, if the Ravens win, it would keep them ahead of their division and the Colts would fall to 1-4. We should expect a great matchup tonight, because a lot rides on the game. The AFC is open for the taking, so the rest of this season should be interesting, to say the least.
