Week 8 of the NFL has just wrapped up, and a lot of players have come away with injuries. This weekend boasted a crazy amount off upsets and some jaw dropping performances from backup quarterbacks who lead their teams to victory.
Starting off with one of the most unbelievable starts ever, QB Mike White for the Jets. White threw for 405 yards against the Bengals, who previously ranked number one in the AFC. To add to the impressiveness of it, the only other QB to throw for over 400 yards in their first career start was Cam Newton, for Carolina. White threw 3 touchdowns and even caught a pass during a two point conversion to seal the 34-31 point win for New York. Maybe Zach Wilson’s starting job isn’t totally secure after all. It should be exciting to see how this QB battle in New York plays out.
In the Sunday night thriller between the Cowboys and Vikings, Dak Prescott was still on the injury list. Taking his place under center that night was Cooper Rush, who lead Dallas to a 20-16 win over Minnesota. There were plenty of big plays that night, including the the two touchdown passes thrown by Rush — one to Cedrick Wilson and another late in the fourth quarter to Amari Cooper. Wilson also threw a sideline pass to Lamb late in the third quarter, showing he can do it all. Dallas was able to pull off a win and climb to a 6-1 record.
Probably the most entertaining game all day was the Bucs/Saints matchup. Saints QB Jameis Winston tore his ACL during the game, forcing New Orleans to rely on Trevor Sieman. Sieman lead the Saints to the win, beating last year’s Super Bowl champs. Although the Saints may have gotten the win, they probably don’t have much luck for the rest of the season considering that their QB1 is out. On the bright side, Winston appears to still have his charming personality, after seen dancing in crutches after the win.
Hopefully next week some of these injuries can get resolved, although they do make for some pretty good stories.
