Week four of the NFL… things are definitely different from last season. The Titans lost to Zach Wilson’s Jets in an impressive overtime. The missed kick, by Titans kicker Randy Bullock, would’ve tied the game and prevented Tennessee from falling to the now 1-3 Jets. Last season, the Jets had the second worst record in the NFL and the Titans barely lost in the Wild Card round of playoffs. Tennessee was missing Julio Jones and AJ Brown due to injury, two of the best receivers in the game right now. Hopefully they are able to turn things around before they lose their current standing as first in the AFC South.
Speaking of upsets, the New York Giants were able to beat the Saints this weekend in their first game back in NOLA. New York won in overtime as well, after a big comeback in the fourth quarter. QBs Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston appear to be splitting snaps in the pocket, and it seems that New Orleans is yet to find Drew Brees’ successor.
The Dallas Cowboys were able to hand the Carolina Panthers their first loss of the season this Sunday in a 36-28 rout. CB Trevon Diggs caught two interceptions, giving him five in just four games. The Cowboys currently sit at the top of the NFC East, and Diggs is making a great case for why he should be the NFL Defensive Player of the Year this season.
Sunday Night Football featured one of the most anticipated games of the season, with the return of Tom Brady and the Buccaneers back to Gillette Stadium. Brady set multiple records last night, including being the fourth quarterback to beat all 32 teams and breaking the all-time passing yards record, previously set by Drew Brees last season. Fitting that Tom Brady set yet another record in his old stadium. Tampa Bay was able to get the best of New England in the fourth quarter, after winning from a missed field goal by Patriots kicker Nick Folk. The score was close too, with the Bucs winning just 19-17. Next week, the Bucs look to take on Miami.
This week was a great one, with multiple overtime games and comebacks. This season is looking to be quite different than the last, and many teams seem to be switching into new eras.
