Free speech is so prevalent online in this generation. With all the online media we have access to- Instagram, Snapchat, blog sites, TikTok, Facebook, and tons more- we as a society should be so grateful for free speech. People post their thoughts constantly in this day and age, and some of those thoughts are ones that may not be approved by everyone. Because we can post as we please, we are able to share our thoughts with more people and form strong opinions easier.
However, on the less fortunate side of things, this can lead to a lot of misinformation. People’s words aren’t being fact checked all the time, so that is why it is crucial for people to make sure the information they take in from the Internet is correct.
The media we have access to in today’s world is so useful in a multitude of ways. It helps us stay up to date on our friends and family’s lives, as well as getting to hear their opinions. We have access to so many online articles and books, and can learn the answers to nearly any question. The internet has unlimited data on millions of subjects, all at our fingertips. Opening up Google is like a gateway to everything, because there is just so much knowledge online. Having free speech allows the internet to be raw, unfiltered and real. We can put anything out there, and fact check anything you need to. Free speech online is a huge supplement in today’s generation.
