Lil Nas X’s new album is a piece of fine art

Recently, Lil Nas X, an American singer and rapper, released their debut album, “Montero”. Expectations were high from reviewers and fans for this album after the success of his previous singles such as “Old Town Road” and “Holiday”. When the album was finally released, it skyrocketed on the billboard charts and made its way to the number one spot. Specifically, the songs “Montero (Call me by your name)” and “That’s What I Want” were especially popular. Played on almost every pop radio station, the album soared.

Not only was it popular, the album was also extremely influential. Being a member of the queer community and a person of color, Lil Nas X broke barriers on the stigma surrounding gay sex and what it means to be gay. Throughout the album, there are many mentions of men loving men, and Lil Nas X handles themself perfectly by just being who they are. They offer no regrets or apologies for the mentions of sex and being themselves in the videos and music, and why should they?

“Montero” is groundbreaking for so many reasons. Lil Nas X truly created a piece of fine art with this album, and I cannot wait to see what their next project will be.
