Reading the instructions for this weeks project has me feeling a little nervous because I am weak when it comes to data interpretation. I knew I wanted to use my news story about how the War on Ukraine caused the wheat economy to fluctuate drastically, because this story required a lot of research and data.
I decided for this project to use a map highlighting the top wheat producing countries pre-invasion versus mid-invasion. I figured this visualization ties in with the story and highlights the main idea of the article.
However, our original story contains a lot of images and a video already, and the images are in a particular spot for a reason. So I made the decision to put the maps at the end, so I could keep the photos where they were. For me at least, this made the most sense for the article.
I think the maps really help show how wheat production boosted for every country except Ukraine during the invasion.
