Since 2018, Andreana has been working on a book tentatively titled Orphans and Demons. The book uses the 2014 legal case of a young Oklahoma missionary named Matthew Durham, in which he was convicted of crimes against Kenyan orphans, as a lens through which to which to understand much broader trends within history of orphanages, of Western evangelical development initiatives in Africa, and of the global “do-gooder” economy.

For nearly four years, Andreana has worked with members of the defense and prosecution teams, with children and government officials in Kenya, with anti-orphanage activists, with American missionaries, and with Matthew Durham himself to tell the shocking–yet not altogether surprising–story of the allegations and case against him. She has also followed the story since his conviction, revealing new information about the nature of the crimes and the identity of the victims.
Andreana’s work is represented by Chris Bucci at Aevitas Creative Management. In addition to the book, Chris is also optioning the rights to a long-form nine episode documentary true crime podcast based on Matthew Durham’s story. The podcast is produced by Andreana, author Pippa Biddle, and investigative journalist Anthony Langat.
