When it came time for me to decide what I would want to major in, I had a big choice to make. What in the world would I want to do for the rest of my life? After a long time, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to because a sports journalist. I decided to get into the media field for two reasons, one being I love sports and second a man named Bob Stoops. My goal in life is to become a football coach and a sports commentator. Bob Stoops is the man I look up to because he has lived out my career goals, as a coach and an analyst for fox sports. Stoops was an amazing coach at OU as he led them to many national championship games including one win, he is seen as a hero to OU football, and he is the reason I came to OU.
Bob Stoops is the one who inspired me to get into coaching and journalism. Stoops coached at OU from 1999-2016 and then he went on to work for fox sports, which I would also love to do in my life. However, he recently left fox to coach the XFL Renegades which is really cool because now I get to continue to watch him coach. You can read more about his work and life at Bob Stoops: The College Football Legend to XFL [2023 Update] (playersbio.com). Sports are my life, which makes me want to coach and report or commentate for football. Bob Stoops is the man who inspired me and the guy I look up to, he showed me that this dream can become a reality if I put in the work. I chose to major in journalism and join the media track to get into commentating/reporting and journalism. Media is a very broad major that allows you to go into so many different fields such as writing, reporting, tv/radio host so it fits right into what I want to do, and Bob Stoops doesn’t know obviously but he has inspired me so much and I hope I can tell him that one day.
