My Dog Pals

I miss my dogs. Most people miss home or their parents, maybe their friends or family. But I miss my dogs. Don’t get me wrong, I wish I could see my mother. However, I text her almost daily. I can’t text my dogs.

I have three dogs. My oldest dog is Dixie, I got her when I started kindergarten. I remember coming home and opening the front door to a little brown puppy all happy and jumpy. Now Dixie is my little old lady. She is a chocolate lab mixed with lord knows what. She only has her canine teeth because in the summer of 2023 she decided she liked to chew on wood and metal. She is the most cuddly sweetheart out there.

My second oldest dog is Tarot, he was born on October 9, 2019. He is a pit bull and shepard mix. We bought him at a Quik Trip from a woman in Minion PJs in November of 2019 for my sisters birthday. Turns out he wasn’t even the dog she had picked out from the lady’s Facebook post. However, he is the goofiest, most high energy dog known to man. He is obsessed with Dixie and will throw a fit if he cannot see her. He also really enjoys sitting on his doghouse roof, imitating the infamous Snoopy.

My third is my youngest and biggest. Wrigley, my Great Pyrenees and Golden Retriever mix. He was about two months old when we found him. He was covered in mud and ticks and we had no idea what kind of dog he was until we stuck him in the bath. 5 years later he stands around 5 feet tall and weighs at least 130lbs. He is the most stubborn and silly dog. He has so much personality. He spends his days up in the playhouse watching over the property and barking at absolutely nothing. That barking makes the other 6 dogs on the property start barking which makes dogs in the surrounding area bark. He really knows how to cause a stir.

I highly look forward to getting to pet all of them again and remind them how I love them.

  1. I will post my dog on my blog (a blog dog? a dog blog?), Asher–he’s a one-eyed, nine-year-old shelter dog, fifty pounds of stubborn, bossy terrier mix….actually, you can see him on my profile pic bottom right, if you zoom in!

I miss my dogs too!! It was so tough leaving them at home and coming to college. I have a German Shepherd named Cookie, and she has three legs. My other dog Patch is a toy poodle. They’re both rescues and nearing elderly age now that I’m older. My favorite part of having dogs is when they are SO excited to see you when you come home. It’s a party the second you walk in cause all they have been doing all day is waiting for you to come home haha.

My senior dog was so pissed with me the first two times I came home after leaving for college. I would call for her and she would turn her head and go to the other side of her yard. She wouldn’t even let me pet her. However, shes over it now and lets me give her all the attention lol.
