For the 21st Century Great Gatsby class, I wrote three papers that pertained to the three different units. Each paper was unique, but they all revolved around the theme of the American Dream and the economy during the 1920s.
Blog: The Elements of The Great Gatsby
I wanted my blog to be unique and creative, so I put a lot of thought into my theme when I was first deciding on it. I ended up choosing “Elements of The Great Gatsby” because I wanted to creatively incorporate an element from the Periodic Table of Elements into each of my blog posts. My favorite blog post was “‘Young and Beautiful’ Goes Platinum.” It was about Lana Del Rey’s song “Young and Beautiful” and its feature in the 2013 film, “The Great Gatsby.” The vulnerability and sadness in the song mirror Daisy’s internal struggle as a woman who is torn between her past innocence and the adult world she must navigate, defined by wealth, superficiality, and decay
