Reflect on your ideation process focusing on the use of AI.

Objective:

In this stage of the design process it was all about sketching our ideas and features out.

How will our audience navigate the interface efficiently?

That was what we needed to solve. In order to do this we sketched up Storyboards and User Flow Maps to best understand each step a user might go through to have a systematic experience with the interface. The virtual reality interface is new to my teammates and I so our professor is hoping to get his hands on a VR set for us to play with and get a better understanding of how we might make our idea more functional within the virtual reality space. We are hopeful that this experience will grow our understanding and only benefit the rest of our design process.

AI Usage:

I did not really use AI in this part of the design process. This section was more focused on sketching out ideas, putting on paper what we had envisioned this far into the project.

Benefits Realized:

Sketching out our ideas helped us as a team collectively agree on the general use of the virtual space. There were a lot of ideas and avenues circulating between my team and I because of the excitement for what we could create out of this concept.

Ultimately we really wanted to focus on the virtual meeting feature. An “elevated zoom call” if you will. Within this feature you can meet remotely with coworkers, hiring managers, or long distance friends/family. This provides a more welcoming atmosphere to what can sometimes be a boring or intimidating video call.

Challenges Faced:

It is still a little challenging to envision the virtual reality world having never experienced using a VR headset. We are hoping to get our hands on one this next week to provide better insight to the interface.

On top of that its kind of hard to draw out a virtual reality, because it just looks like reality. So making these sketches was a little difficult and hard to explain without a caption.

Reflection:

Overall, the ideation step of the process resulted in various sketches, talking through the user flow and experience, while also strengthening our concept. Discussing the User flow and creating a map allowed our perspective to shift as a designer to the user. We ironed out some ideas, simplifying it to better adapt to the users needs/wants.

I am curious to see how we can utilize AI generative capabilities. Our goal is that local coffee shops would upload images of the cafes to the program and I will produce a 360 virtual view of the cafe for the users. But the question is how well AI will be able to achieve this? Will there need to be human intervention in order to provide a quality representation of each cafe.
