Jordan Baker is the friend to Daisy and is a sort of love interest to Nick. Jordan is of the upper class and is also closer to Gatsby. She is a golf champion and has a more athletic build. She is much more reserved than Daisy and appreciates privacy much more. During one of the parties she says, “Anyhow, he gives large parties,” said Jordan, changing the subject with an urban distaste for the concrete. “And I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy” (Fitzgerald 3). This kinda shows how she prefers there to be more privacy and she represents this in her normal day life too. She’s also known to be very secretive. Nick talked about the encounters he’s had with her and he said, “The bored haughty face that she turned to the world concealed something—most affectations conceal something eventually, even though they don’t in the beginning—and one day I found what it was. When we were on a house-party together up in Warwick, she left a borrowed car out in the rain with the top down, and then lied about it—and suddenly I remembered the story about her that had eluded me that night at Daisy’s” (Fitzgerald 3).
