The Training and Certification

The team is currently focusing on training new team members to design, build, and fly their own rockets from scratch in order to prepare for the design and fabrication of this year’s major competition.

Team members are encouraged to build and fly a Level 1 rocket to certify with Tripoli Rocketry.

The Competition

This year, BRT is competing in the Argonia Cup / Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) held by the Kloudbusters and the Tripoli Rocketry Association, INC.

The team will design and build a rocket to hit a target altitude of 8,000ft AGL and must contain a golf ball payload that is to be recovered safely at a predetermined location on the rocket range.

More to come as the design process continues.

Argonia Cup

At the end of March, Boomer Rocket Team headed to Argonia Kansas to compete for the Argonia Cup. After a unstable first flight, BRT pulled together to build the fastest Rocket the University of Oklahoma has launched so far. The Rocket , Danger Noodle, reached an Altitude of over 12,000 ft AGL and was just under Mach 1.9. The University of Oklahoma place 3rd in the competition.
