Looking back on my sports blogging this semester, I can see how much I’ve grown as a writer, especially in a topic I’m passionate about. I’ve always loved sports, playing them growing up, and now I’m planning to pursue a career in sports broadcasting after college. Blogging about sports gave me a unique opportunity to blend my passion for the game with my writing skills, even though I didn’t blog as frequently as I wanted. The posts I did publish really helped boost my confidence and gave me a chance to experiment with different styles. The feedback I got, while minimal, made me rethink some of my approaches and helped me improve my writing.
Writing about sports also helped me engage with the material in a deeper way. It wasn’t just about expressing my thoughts as it forced me to organize my ideas and connect them to broader trends in sports, which is something I’ll need in broadcasting. This course, in particular, has been a valuable stepping stone for my future career, allowing me to refine my voice and communicate more clearly.
For future college courses, I think regular deadlines would help keep students on track, and peer feedback could encourage new perspectives and better ideas. If blog topics were tied more closely to class discussions, it would make the writing feel more relevant and help us connect better with the material.
Overall, blogging in general has been a great way to develop my writing and dive deeper into the topics I love. It’s definitely helped me prepare for my hopeful future in sports broadcasting, and I’d love to see more structured blogging opportunities in future courses. I’m super happy I took this course and will be recommending it to all who are interested.
