Creating a quality film is no task for the weak. It takes many different elements, such as the: acting/actors, outfits, cinematography, storyline, and so much more. All of these different parts of making a successful movie have to come together to tell an entertaining, yet cohesive and impactful story.
A movie that I love and consider to be a quality film is Legally Blonde. Elle Woods (the main character) goes from being an airhead sorority girl to a Harvard Law school student. Woods tackles law school while wearing some of the most iconic outfits in movie history. Elle’s outfits express her personality very well: over the top and fun. Elle is always dressed to impress and she takes a lot of pride in her outfits. Elle shows her bubbly and girly personality through her clothes.

The storyline of the movie is meant to be entertaining and funny while also having a deeper meaning and lesson. In the beginning Woods is portrayed as the typical “dumb blonde” stereotype. Her rich, smart, and handsome boyfriend, Warner, dumps her in order to focus on law school, and Elle is heartbroken. She decides to study hard and apply for Harvard Law School in hopes she will get to follow him to his new college and make him fall in love with the new her. When she gets to Harvard she finds out that her ex boyfriend already has a new girlfriend. Once again, Elle is devastated but she continues to work on herself, her school work, and her love life. Ultimately Elle’s plan to win Warner back works, but she no longer wants him, so she rejects him. Fast forward and Elle is standing before her class giving her valedictorian speech, Elle Woods is the ultimate girl boss. The movie is meant to show character development and highlight the idea of feminism.
Reese Witherspoon was carefully chosen as the lead character because finding an actor that can portray such a unique personality can be difficult. Reese Witherspoon has played dozens of different characters, most of which are completely different from one another, so the movie crew knew she could successfully portray Elle Woods. For Elle they wanted a pretty, bubbly, witty, and confident woman who would truly get into her character in order to sell the message of the movie. Witherspoon did not hold back when acting as her character and her acting ultimately made the movie such a hit.
The outfits Elle wears throughout the movie is another reason that the movie gained alot of traction. Her outfits are sophisticated, girly, chic, and unique. Reese Witherspoons character was meant to show feminism in a modern light and the costume crew made sure to reflect this through her outfits. My favorite color is pink and most of her outfits are pink, which is why I originally watched the movie in the first place. Elle’s outfits throughout the movie have inspired my own personal style and I tend to dress in outfits that Elle would definitely wear. In conclusion, I think this movie is definitely a quality film and it has shaped me into the person I am today, so it means a lot to me!
