When I think of the term “media professional”, I think of Emma Chamberlain. I don’t think of her as just a YouTuber or a vlogger, but as a role model and inspiration. The reason so many people are intrigued by her is because of her unique editing style, humor, and the many different types of videos she posts: vlogs, DIY’s, cooking videos, hauls, etc. Emma Chamberlain has built her whole brand from the ground up by using different social media platforms. Emma is the true definition of a “media professional” and the ultimate girl boss. When I first started watching her videos she lived in a small apartment in San Francisco and shared a car with her mom, now she lives in a mansion in Los Angeles and drives luxury cars- and she accomplished all of this by making people fall in love with who she is on the inside. Although her success, wealth, and fame are all things to awe over, the main reason I think Emma Chamberlain is inspiring is ultimately because of her hard work and loyalty to herself. She has always said the main reason she posts videos/content is because she wants to inspire others through her determination and humor, which I think is a beautiful reason. As stated in an article by The New York Times, her “goal is to be funny, to keep people watching” she simply wants to make people happy. Personally, her videos have helped me on both good days and bad days because she can always make me laugh, no matter what the circumstances are, and I wish I could thank her for making my days a little bit brighter. I have been a follower/fan of hers for many years now, so I have seen her grow into one of the biggest influencers of our time. I can confidently say she has stayed true to her humor, values, and morals. Even though Emma Chamberlain may not know who I am, I think of her as a role model and a friend.
