Hi, I’m Clara.
Fun fact about me: My name was finalized after I was born. My parents couldn’t decide so they googled their two options, Clara and Anne. Anne didn’t pull up anything significant but two famous Claras came up that aligned perfectly with my parents’ professions. Clara was the winner by far. I have to say, I’m glad. I believe names sort of carry personalities and I don’t think I’m much of an Anne at all.
My Blogging Identity: When talking about AI, ChatGPT, and even social media, my perspective will be influenced by my own discomfort with social media and certain aspects of the ethics of AI. For example, I notice that if I’m on any type of social media for more than about an hour, I start feeling completely drained, apathetic, and despondent. That said, I don’t have a dislike of social media and technology overall. I think a lot of the creativity expressed, communities built, and entertainment received can and does have a positive impact on people’s lives in a multitude of ways. Still, I worry specifically about the impact social media and AI have on mental health, jobs, information/misinformation, and education.
As for more personal blogging, I’m considering writing about my plants, Some of my weird potentially ghostly experiences, and my list of places that feel like purgatory to me (EX: An empty movie theatre, Dillards, Rollerskating rinks.)

I am looking forward to reading more as your blog develops! I am personally interested in how AI will impact education in upcoming years as it becomes more accessible to students and educators. I look foward to having discussions about that with you in class later on. As for your blogging personality, I have yet to have a paranormal experience, more specifically with a ghost, but hearing about your potential experiences is something I am anticipating.

Hi Clara! No comments here yet so I’ll go first.
Let me emphasize that blogging was the online social form that came before social media! Blogging involved communities, audiences, fan culture–without the extreme speed and massive corporate platforms of today’s social media. Blogging might get you feeling differently about the internet….Now, as I said in class, something like a ghostly / haunted place blog might be fun, if you think you could do 4-5 entries over the semester, to build up that role. But you might have another idea by now as well!
