Final Proposal:

  1. What is the problem, the debate, the question that you are engaging with?

How is AI being used in creative careers and by creatives and how does it affect the dynamic between artistry and efficiency?

  1. What role(s) are your sources going to play?  Use our “B-TEAM” breakdown to structure this paragraph: try to say something about each of the five “kinds” of source and the relative importance, or difficulty of locating, such types of sources, as you see things at the current stage in your research process. Write specifically about at least two sources that you think will play particularly important roles in your essay.  (The language in this section may be drawn (with light revision) from entries in your “Working Bibliography.”)

I’m using the AI snake oil source as a way to break down the specific challenges that come with different types of AI and different types fo AI usage, as well as a source of good language about and definitions for AI. I think this source will be a good one to come back to when I hit a dead end on what I want to explore within different industries. I can re-read and ask myself how this information compares to the ways industries talk about AI and if is there false or misleading information there. Are the individuals using AI in their professions even aware of the different types of AI they are using and their limitations? All good things to think about. I’d say that this article is a good background source.

I’m also using AI and the End of the Human Writer as a key source for how to think about the intersection of work and creativity I’m examining. I’m using the mini C, little c, Pro C, and Big C categorizations to frame how I think about the types of creativity people are using AI for in their different industries and possibly to examine how the impact (and risks/consequences) that AI has changes based on thy type of C it’s used to replicate. This article will be used as a Theory/tool source – something to build a structure off of.

I’ll also be getting first hand information on voice acting and the impact AI has had on that industry from my mom. I’ll look around for sources that support her claims, but I’m curious what the real life/every day impacts look like for creatives in a creative industry.
