Final Reflective Cover letter
Looking back on this semester, I have learned so much about myself and literature through developing my writing strategies, being a creative writer, researching, writing about my interests, and embracing the grit of an intensive curriculum.
My Cover letters reflect this transformation from my first to third essay, showing how I’ve grown as a writer and how my thoughts have translated on paper. My first essay was the launchpad for my interests in the class, as the American Dream has fascinated me to no end and inspired a ten-page research essay; the second essay was a challenge but helped inspire me to read and acknowledge diverse views when it comes to literature, and the third essay, my best by far, was the magnum opus of my writing in this class if not of my college career thus far. The third essay was thrilling the whole way through, from hours of research and annotations on a bibliography, to connecting The Great Gatsby to current American trends, I felt like I was on the verge of a breakthrough throughout the process.
If I were to take this class again, I would have sought your help a lot earlier in the semester (as a lot of the technology and general tools we used posed a good deal of confusion), and I would have worked harder to stay on top of my work. I initially signed up for this course because I enjoyed The Great Gatsby so much, and secondly, because I wanted to grow as a writer. I would say that I accomplished both of those swimmingly and am truly proud of the finished products I can show as a result of this semester. I have discovered a lot more about my writing style, voice, and perspectives, and am excited to take these realizations further into my academic career and beyond.
Thank you for being an amazing professor and challenging me to be the best writer! I truly appreciate all your dedication and look forward to visiting you in the Honors College next year!
HAGS! (Have a good summer)
