College Baseball Week Recap

Week one of the 2023 college baseball season is over, and it was in fact a wild start. There were home runs, strikeouts, and pitchers throwing as high as 100 MPH, but we will recap it all right here. The biggest upset was when Grand Canyon University out lasted #2 Tennessee 4-3. Jacob Wilson who man’s shortstop for GCU led the team going 2-4 with an RBI and scoring a run. Jacob is projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming MLB Draft in July and continues to impress scouts and show why their team should draft him. Now we will travel down to Arlington, Texas where the #8 Arkansas Razorbacks took on the #9 Oklahoma State Cowboys in the College Baseball Showdown and let’s just say this one wasn’t even close. The Razorbacks beat the Cowboys 18-1 in a seven-inning run rule game where the pokes threw five different pitchers. #1 LSU looked incredibly dominant still as they had a three-game sweep over Western Michigan and had ace pitcher Paul Skenes up to 99 MPH on the mound on Friday night. Week one usually features big schools playing smaller schools as their “tune up” games so they can get ready for what lays ahead of them in conference play. This week showed this should be one of the more exciting seasons of college baseball in recent years and college baseball fans are so ready and are hoping to see their team in Omaha this summer for the College World Series.
