Moneyball five step analysis
Moneyball is one of the most intriguing baseball stories in history. The 2002 Oakland Athletics were and still are a very interesting team to study and learn about. Billy Beane, who was the general manager of the team at the time, was very frustrated with the team’s inability to keep all star players on the roster due to their low budget. Beane and his assistant Paul DePodesta use a new strategy that no other organization in Major League Baseball had ever used before. They used math and science to analyze, breakdown, and discover to most under-appreciated baseball players. These players were not the most known or all stars by any means but they sure led the A’s to one of the most successful seasons they have had in recent history. The Film Moneyball was released in 2011 which was nine years after the season the A’s did this, and this paper will breakdown what the movie did right and wrong.
