The week before Thanksgiving, I was fortunate enough to be able to journey to Tulsa, Oklahoma with my friends to attend generational rap icon Travis Scott’s UTOPIA tour.
Ever since his previous 2018 album ASTROWORLD released, Travis Scott’s psychedelic music has taken the world by storm, with his atmospheric beats and introspective yet carefree words pulling on the heartstrings of the youth. In an era where societal division rules the global conscious, Travis Scott’s tour for his newest album UTOPIA provides individuals with an escape from an overwhelmingly dispiriting reality and an opportunity to remember and express their love of life.
The concert was held at the BOK Center in downtown Tulsa – a city usually overlooked by most artists planning their album tour destinations. But having a world famous rapper perform in the middle of the Midwest had people flocking to Tulsa like moths to LaFlame. The show was sold out, completely filling out the venue, leading to a very successful and fun concert. Even Travis Scott seemed to love the environment and hype brought on by the fans, playing his signature high-energy song “FE!N” ten times in a row – something he hasn’t done since 2017 with his song “goosebumps.” The UTOPIA tour was my first bonafide concert I ever attended an overall a fantastic poetic experience.
