My American Dream

The American Dream comes in different shades, meanings and ideologies. My American Dream as an African specifically from Zimbabwe is probably different from a person from any other part of the world or the African Americans themselves. My American Dream is not a just a myth but rather a reality. My American dream is not a political one or a social one but rather a personal one. My American Dream aligns with the values that l was brought up with, my American Dream aligns very well with my African culture as well as my morals. My American dream is that one can achieve success through hard work, sincerity, honesty and persistence. My American dream means that one can make it in life regardless of where they start. My American dream means that success is and can be the end game for anyone who chooses to work hard with great honesty and consistence. Now in the world that we live in My American Dream can sounds impossible and almost unachievable. This is because connections injustice has faded the line between hard work and corruption. My American dream has almost become unreal because people are now pursuing illegal ways in order to acquire riches rather than to work hard and achieve hard earned goals. My American dream has become unreal simply because hard work has become a longer route which is taken by the helpless because people are now using shortcuts to success which are illegal. My American Dream has become almost nonexistent because almost everyone now chooses to do things the other way while diminishing the whole idea of moral integrity, peace and honesty which is exactly where the roots of my American Dream lie. Amidst all the vast changes happening around the world and in people’s hearts as well as values my American Dream still stands as a reality in my own eyes because its all rooted in the honesty l was ever taught. My American dream has stood the test of time as l see myself as an example that through hard work, consistence and honesty one could go places they never thought they could go as well as achieve goals that look unrealistic. My American Dream lies right within my values and my culture!!!
