To what extent does the intersection of gender, race, and class influence the perception of the American Dream for women, racial minorities, and low-income individuals?

The reason why l chose this topic:

I had never heard of the idea of the American dream before coming to the United States or taking this class. I was hearing about the American Dream for the first time in class pushed me to want to know more about it, especially knowing if it is a reality or a myth. Upon learning a few things about it it became a topic that has interested me and has been discussed in my sociology class too as we were studying Economic Inequality. Studying this topic and then connecting to the readings we had in class l realized that different people have different perceptions of the American Dream. I then got eager to know what causes or influences people’s perception of the American dream since it turned out that people perceive it differently according to their experiences. After studying more about the Economic Inequality chapter l wanted to focus more on race, gender, and ethnicity since those were listed as some of the causes of economic inequalities. I believe this is an important topic and people should care about it because it will allow us to see if the American Dream is a reality for everyone as it is meant to be or if it is just a dream that is out of reach for the marginalized.
