Dreams do are not a part of reality, they are just mere cherished aspirations, ambitions or ideals. This then makes me wonder if the phrase “American Dream” itself is a good enough phrase to give to an ideal that people hold up to and have faith in its existence. My major question of the existence of the American Dream is rooted in the name of this belief or ideal itself. In attempts to figure out what the American Dream is, l tried to look at the literary meaning of the ideas that make it.
The American dream has been argued by a number of people that it is different to different people, and it carries a different meaning for every individual. The American dream is often believed to be the idea that anyone can achieve success in the United States of America through hard work and opportunity. Some people refer to it as the ethos of the United States which then makes it the United States characteristic belief. To my understanding if something is a belief it is it is mostly false because one only believes in things that they doubt to be true. How ever holding a certain belief is a choice that one makes meaning that believing in the American Dream is a choice that one gets to make.
Despite being a choice that most of us are free to make, the idea that the American dream is literary not a reality but rather aspirations and ambitions makes it a questionable belief to uphold. This is because not all our ambitions are realistic and not all our ambitions can come to life and be accessed by all. This then means the American dream was once someone perspective of the USA or just an aspiration that they had for the USA that is not actually true or existing for many. This then leads me to the thought that if the American Dream is an Ethos, ambition or an aspiration that people believe to be existing, it is for sure different for everyone.
