This short little clip is an introduction of what can happen when we spend too much time on social media. When we spend hours upon hours of our day looking at our phones, self comparison takes over and we start to loose our sense of self-worth and self-identity. As a result of this, sadness takes over in our mind and long term issues of depression and anxiety take over. In this paper, I go through statistical analysis of what can happen when we spend too much time on our phones. Statistics show that poor mental health can relate to the amount of time spent on social media. As gen z, we are considered one of the most mediated generations. If gen z is the most mediated generation, how does this look for gen z’s mental health as a whole? Also in this paper, you will find personal stories of how social media has ruined peoples mental health and how deleting it has caused positive repercussions. Find out how defeat the powers of Sadness can take over in my research paper, The Negative Effects of Social Media.
