Looking over the fashionable moments that The Great Gatsby portrays due to it taking place in the roaring 20s, is pretty amazing. When we consider the outfits used in the film, we see this flashy style that many to this day are still inspired by. Considering that The Great Gatsby was written in the roaring 20s, this made such a huge impact on the style of fashion that we see. When you think of the film/novel you tend to think about the fashionable moments that it portrays, we’ve seen it inspire an entire party theme and fashion events even though this style is a 100 years old. We saw for Kris Jenner’s 60th birthday the party was themed on The Great Gatsby and represented the social class that the movie shows as well. We see the Kardashians/Jenners wearing these super glamorous, expensive outfits that represents what the roaring 20s was all about. Kylie Jenner was wearing a $18,000 dress which in current day is not affordable to spend on one outfit unless you are super high up the social and economic ladder.
Considering all this, the The Great Gatsby portrays a lifestyle that many in current day still fantasize over and wish they were living in right now. Gatsby throws extravagant parties just like some of the social elite that we see today. We just all think about being in these parties wearing super glamorous, expensive outfits while living in the moment care-free. We also see the crazy amount of jewelry that these characters wear, that still has an apparent feature in current day like Lady Gaga is wearing millions of dollars in diamonds. Like in the novel, we see Daisy being able to get that pearl necklace that is worth a lot back then and still in current day due to the amount of inflation.
