Jay Gatsby a character that many truly like I believe due to his interesting and huge impact he has on the story line of the novel The Great Gatsby. If we think about it of course the novel revolves around him but it’s crazy how his character throws these amazing huge parties and, in the end, just to get shot. If we think about it, his character in a way represents the American dream if you think about it. Him having his huge house and just living life with finical stability. Even though if we consider how he got his wealth is questionable and goes against many people morals on how he attained it. In the novel it takes us a while to understand how he got to the point of the social ladder he’s at but it’s not till Nick finds out that some of that money was obtained through criminal matters.
Thinking about all that makes you wonder on how the reader can view him some can shame him for that, but some can praise him on how he attained it due to his ambitious way no matter what. Let’s think about it some people wouldn’t go that far just due to the punishment that can happen if you’re caught. On the other hand, some people wouldn’t care if it means finical security and would go that far for that. Considering all of this shows that Jay Gatsby is a character with lots of character to break down from his love life to his traits or even the questionable ways he went to achieve his amount of wealth, but the true questions is would you be willing to do everything he did if it meant finical security.
