The Great Gatsby a famous novel mainly known for the huge symbolism of the American dream. You can ask many people on what they think The Great Gatsby symbolizes and many would say this novel is a version of the American dream in many ways. We see these characters wanting or living these very huge glamorous lives in the novel and in the movie. We see them have financial stability and live super glamorous with huge properties which many can say that is the American dream for a lot of people. We see these characters wear super expensive jewelry and outfits with their amazing estates.
We can say that this version of symbolism is still apparent in the modern-day culture due to the American dream still being the same idea as it was back then. I say we can support this due to us being able to relate these characters with modern day celebrities that we can say live the American dream. Like if we look at Daisy Buchanan wears these super expensive pearls like how Lady Gaga wears millions of dollars worth of diamonds, and one can say that Lady Gaga truly lives the American dream. Considering that the novel has characters that can be realistic, like the character Myrtle a woman who will try anything to climb the social class ladder and think about most of us tend to know a person that is like her in many ways. My overall thought is that The Great Gatsby biggest form of symbolism is the American dream and on how those who have achieved it tend to enjoy it and others will try to do anything to achieve to it.
