The Unsolved Case of Jon-Benet Ramsey

Over the weekend I watched the CBS documentary about the chilling murder of JonBenet Ramsey. If you are unfamiliar with her case, then here is a little bit of a run down. The day after Christmas, JonBenet’s mother called the 911 stating her daughter had been kidnapped and there was a ransom note left on the stairs. When the police arrived, John Ramsey was making plans for them to go to Atlanta stating they just wanted to go home and be with family. Trying to keep them from leaving they sat the family down and took their statements, but for a short while no one could locate Mr. Ramsey and then minutes later he returned. The police then announced that a search would be conducted from top to bottom. Ramsey shot up and took them to the basement, where they found JonBenet’s body. He then proceeded to pick up and move her body, disturbing the crime scene. The CBS team went into great detail over the hows, whens, whys, wheres of everything and anything you can think. They discretely pinned the brother for the murder. Thats not what I am here to say. Like in my research paper, I am talking about how these documentaries portray a bias and skewed perspective that can lead viewers to have false perceptions of people. Which leads to damage to peoples character and reputation, truthfully and factually warranted or not.
