When Travis Scott announced that Astroworld Festival would be back in November of 2021, fans were quick to buy tickets in May of 2021. Seeing as the festival was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, tickets went fast and fans could not wait. Selling over 50,000 tickets in May, the anticipation was high and the weekend could not come any sooner for Travis Scott fans. Not only would Travis be performing but he would be joined by: Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Young Thug + YSL, Master P, Baby Keem, 21 Savage, Roddy Ricch, Chase B, Yves Tumor, Lil Baby, Toro y Moi, Sheck Wes, SoFaygo, BIA, Metro Boomin, Teezo Touchdown, and Houston All Stars. Also a surprise performace by Drake. The highly anticipated event took place this past weekend in Houston, Texas. Fans entered the event, excited to see Travis and the other artists, but what they didn’t know was that for some it wasn’t going to the be the weekend they had waited for. were being squished, crammed together, and stepped on. What they didn’t realize was how out of hand the cramming had gotten. As each song went on people started to succumb to the jumping and pushing and began to be trampled on. As people began to fall to the ground, the jumping and mosh pit environment just amplified and climb to another level. Over 400 people were reported injured and 8 died from this tragic event. Travis Scott is now facing multiple lawsuits and has announced that he will cover any and all funeral costs for those who died at the expense of his concert.
