As a proud member of the acclaimed Generation-Z, or “Gen-Z”, I write to you today to profess my strong beliefs in my generation and their power to protest. Yes, we are not the first generation to partake in rigourous protests to enact change ( *cough* the ’70s), but I do believe we are the first to take things to such a scale. Never has there been a generation to experience and go through the things we have experienced such as COVID-19, events regarding racial injustice, a climate crisis, and more political turmoil than ever before, all at the same time. We are also the first generation to be able to protest and communicate on multiple platforms, to people all over the world. That is the power of a Gen-Z protest: technology, and not giving a f*ck about consequences. It’s hard to worry about consequences when the world is actually falling apart around you.
