As a dancer on the go I am always looking for good nutritional snacks that are easy to pack and eat on the go. For one week, I tried a new protein bar each day with the hopes of finding one that is both yummy, and beneficial to my nutrition, and I wanted to share my observations on here. I stuck to the same flavor for most so that I could review them as fairly as possible. My two favorite flavors for any snack are blueberry and birthday cake so that is what I will be reviewing here.

That’s it
This one was one of my least favorites. It had a good flavor overall, I definitely tasted the real fruit, however the texture was very grainy and it tasted like it should have been a fruit bar but in the form of a protein bar. It is only 100 calories so it didn’t fill me up too much which is subjective to if you need it to last you a long time or not. It is also gluten free and vegan. Overall if you can get past the texture and are a fan of light snacks with fresh fruit flavors, this is the bar for you.

RXBAR
This one was by far my least favorite. The taste and the texture was off. It has a very chewy and oily texture and is very dense. It does however have 210 calories and 12 grams of protein. The bar itself is small but it takes a while to finish, in fact i’m not sure I was able to finish this one. The taste was very bland. I love blueberry and vanilla anything, however this bar tasted very artificial. It does have great nutritional values but that was not enough for me to finish this one.

think!
This one was my overall favorite. This one was good for keeping me full and energized all day because it is 150 calories and 10 grams of protein however not too full to where I felt like I wasn’t able to dance. A lot of protein bars and shakes are known to have a strong after taste of protein powder which is a very bitter and tastes like metal almost. This one did not have that which I love because I didn’t taste it in my mouth an hour later like most bars do. It also had a very good taste and didn’t even taste like protein, I felt like I was eating a treat after dance class.

Quest
This was another one of my favorites however it left a bad after taste and because of that I only ate it once and never really reached for it again. I did love everything else about it. This one has 180 calories which I personally loved because it wasn’t too filling but it still gave me long term energy for my long dance classes. It also has 21 grams of protein so I was able to get my protein in for the day. Aside from the bitter after taste I love this bar.

ONE
This is bar is also another one of my favorites and I probably eat this one the most when I want a snack in between classes. This bar has 220 calories and 20 grams of protein so I usually eat half in between a class and save the other half for after which I also really like because it lasts me longer than a smaller, less dense bar would. This one does leave a slight after taste in my mouth but it doesn’t last long and it has a great birthday cake taste so I am okay with it.

CLIF BAR
This bar is not my go to, but whenever I want to switch it up I go for the blueberry crisp CLIF bar. The texture of this one is similar to a chewy oatmeal bar with some extra crunch because it has nuts and real fruit in it which I love. It has a good taste and it is very filling. It has 250 calories and 9 grams of protein along with 4 grams of dietary fiber and a lot of other vitamins that aren’t in the protein bars above so it gives me something different.
