One of the most important things to me in life is my faith. As a practicing Christian, I really try to live by my faith every second of my life and though I fall short so many times, I still try to make it a priority to follow the word as well as share it with others. 40 days before Easter is a christian holiday called Ash Wednesday. Many Christians, start a personal fast on that day called lent which means for 40 days, they give up one thing that is maybe consuming their time, and taking their focus away from the Lord. This year for lent, my best friend and I decided to give up Instagram and TikTok and put our focus on the Lord along with strengthening friendships that were fruitful to us. On Easter, before we downloaded our social medias again, we reflected on our 40 days and realized how incredibly hoppy we felt because we were actively seeing the Lords plan for us and putting our time into people and activities that gave back to us rather than apps that mentally and emotionally drained us. Those 40 days were the most free we’ve felt this whole year and we realized how beautiful and healthy it is to socialize in person rather than through a screen. In those 40 days we went on more coffee dates, bible studies, picnics, etc than we’ve been on this entire year and it’s been a pleasure getting to know our friends beyond their instagram feeds and Friday night outings. I think it is safe to say that this year I spent my 40 days free.
I am so thankful for these beautiful friendships I’ve strengthened
