The Sturniolo Triplets
Why stop at two when you can have three? The Sturniolo Triplets have skyrocketed into popularity in the past 12 months and are one of the more popular names on YouTube at the moment. Aptly named, Nick, Matt, and Chris are 21 year old triplet brothers from Boston who make videos with each other for Youtube. They have been filing together since 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, but only recently became main stream in late 2022 and currently have 7.1 million subscribers on Youtube and 8.8 million followers on TikTok. Their similar yet very different personalties are consistently shown in their “Friday Car Videos” in which the three answer questions, play games, tell stories, and generally just talk to one another. Both their encapsulating and entertaining car videos and tripled look captured audiences attention and brought them into the spotlight.
As I said, despite their extremely similar physical appearance, their personality is vastly different. Nick definitely has the most character-like personality and is quick-witted in conversation with his birthers, while Matt is more of the opposite of that and is a quiet, more shy with spurts of passion being random topics; sort of opposite ends of the spectrum. Chris is definitely an in between of Matt and Nick as he is rambunctious and outgoing at times but also has no issue being shy on camera at times. And thats what created their popularity, not neccessarily their being of triplets. They looked alike but weren’t alike and make diverse content among multiple platforms. They make content together but also alone and what they do in their lives alone, including trips to different countries alone, and challenges together. They don’t make being identical triplets their selling point, it was just something they did together. They participate in challenges that involves them being triplets but also could be done by any group of three, and also make videos together that are just their days or parts in their lives. The Sturniolo’s are triplets who film their lives together rather than triplets that create a life to film together. They each have their own endeavors that match their own aspirations that helps to separate their personalities and be themselves. Nick has a developing beauty brand called Space Camp, Chris a clothing brand called Fresh Love, and Matt works on mental health resources and outreach.

Nick, Chris, and Matt Sturniolo rose into YouTube fame and pop culture from their diverse personalities and tripled looks that encapsulated millions but pursued separate ventures of their own. Their ability to show their separate personalities and lives conveys how they didn’t allow them being triplets dictate what they do in media and social media. I would say they are leaving a positive impact on society’s view of twins despite being triplets. They aren’t any sort of stereotypical where they are completely opposites all the time nor the exact same as each other. If they ever decide to stop filming together or stop filming all together their identities haven’t been forced together and they have a foundation and freedom to do so. They showed a larger point of view to society that triplets also can experience the preconceptions of twins to an additional scale; which the triplets defy.
