The 117th meeting between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns played on October 9th at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX was an instant classic. It had everything: late drama, quarterback changes, animals on the field, and of course, a Sooners victory.

Freshman wide receiver Xavier Worthy scored on the opening drive off a screen pass for a 75-yard touchdown to take a quick lead.

Marvin Overshown blocked a punt, and sophomore Bijan Robinson scored on a two-yard run to double the Longhorn’s lead within two minutes.

At the end of the first quarter, a 48-yard connection between quarterback Casey Thompson and wide receiver Joshua Moore extended the lead to the end of the first being 28-7.

This play was early in the second quarter when Lincoln Riley made the quarterback change to go with Caleb Williams. He provided an electric 66 yard run on a fourth and one to cut the lead of Texas to just 14.

Bijan makes a huge run that will lead to Texas getting another touchdown to extend their lead 35-17 that even Reggie Bush took notice of.

At 7:25 in the fourth quarter, wide receiver Marvin Mims made an incredible 52-yard catch. After a completed two-point conversion, the Sooners had tied the game at 41-41.

Just 15 seconds later, junior running back Kennedy Brooks scored on an 18-yard run to give the Sooners the lead for the first time in the game.

Texas would score with 1:23 left in the game to equalize at 48-48 on a Thompson to Worthy 31 yard connection, but with just seconds left on the board, Brooks would punch in his second touchdown on a 33 yard run for the victory for the Sooners 55-48.
