Finally, Some Good News

Positive news stories usually aren’t the stories that catch people’s eye, but an exception was presented to me. Recently, longtime YouTuber MrBeast announced that his company Feastables would be striking a partnership with the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association. MrBeast, otherwise known as, Jimmy Donaldson, is a YouTube sensation. His main YouTube Channel has over 200 million subscribers and is growing rapidly every single day. His videos garner hundreds of millions of views, with a total view count sitting at 35.6 billion views. It is safe to say that Jimmy has quite the following. Watching a hardworking, humble individual like him receive the opportunities that he’s gotten is truly inspiring.

Feastables gets to have its insignia on the team jerseys for the Charlotte Hornets for the upcoming 2023-2024 NBA season. I saw this news on Instagram on October 2nd, 2023, which was the day that the deal was announced. Jimmy Donaldson is a North Carolina native, so it makes sense that he would put his success back into his local community. This deal is great publicity for his snack/candy company and great for Charlotte residents to see a recognizable brand on their local team’s jerseys.

The Hornets X account posted this video to promote the new partnership deal. Being an avid NBA fan, I am absolutely thrilled to see MrBeast and his companies thrive and join the NBA jersey sponsor circle. Both YouTube and the NBA have been large parts of my childhood and I continue to engage with both quite often. To see a joining of forces like this is something that I couldn’t have imagined if I had tried. To make it even better, this sponsorship deal includes the Feastables insignia on all physical and virtual Hornets jerseys. This means that in the new edition of NBA 2K24, the logo will also be present in the video game! I have a copy of the game and I can confirm that it looks just as good virtually as it does in real life.
