The public or society as a whole can be so caught up in their own anonymous internet accounts. Anonymous accounts protect people from taking accountability for what ever they say or do. Many content creators, such as Dream, have fanbases that feel entitlement to their life. Because of their worlds being shared publicly leads to many people who watch to crave more of their content that can eventually become invasive.

The face reveal of an extremely popular Minecraft Youtuber named Dream is trending topic on the internet right now. Sadly, the Youtuber has received a lot of backlash on the internet after the reveal. The hash tag “He’s Ugly” was trending on Twitter not too long after the reveal. Many from the public who had witnessed the hyped up reveal felt his face did not match his voice. So in return many people started to make fun of his face from being upset at him not being “as attractive” as they would have liked.

The Youtubers voice had been around a lot longer than his face so of course the public felt that way. For example, the public had the time to establish a look to the faceless voice. The absence of a face gives freedom to the mind to have room for wonder. A face reveal counteracts with the already create image of a character that fits the mask. Destroying the image of expectations that then leads to disappointment or disillusionment.

A true self hidden behind the shield of a mask that protects one from the spotlight of societies expectations. What face can fingers point at? Living two separate lives that you can leave on the internet. Having a personal life to go home to is protected. Unmasking that protection is dangerous and vulnerable.
