Verses 21 and 22 would have God telling Moses yet again for the Israelites to respect his requests of Mount Sinai. We can infer that God could already sense that the people were becoming defiant to him as we again would later know that they would end up defiant of him. Asking this of Moses also helps imply that God is not all-knowing. If he knew the people of Israel were going to be defiant of him already, why ask Moses to repeat the message, showing, God does not know what will happen. He reiterates that the consequences of this again would be death, showing how serious this was to God, possibly showing that he has emotion as he does not want them to do it as he cares for them. God also says that even the priests who would be for him, wouldn’t be safe from this as he would have to “break out” against them.

The 23rd verse would have Moses reiterating to God what he is not allowed to do in confusion as he already understood what he and his people were not allowed to do. This helps show that Moses was a normal person even though he was a prophet of God as he is confused about why he is here if he knows what not to do.

The last two verses show God telling Moses to have him “Away!”, and to come back with Aaron. From what we know already, Aaron is the representation of priesthood in the bible. This shows that when God says, “not to let the priests and the people breakthrough”, it means to separate Moses (representing Israelites) and Aaron (representing priests) from each other as he has different intentions for each group as he said earlier they are to him, “And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” So Moses then ends the chapter again delivering this message to the people as it is a law of God.

This chapter in Exodus mainly helps show what God tells Moses to spread one of his many laws at Mount Sinai to the Israelites and to help set up the later events of the book. There were overall some very easy-to-spot concepts we learned like sacred spaces and the term prophet, but had some more difficult concepts to spot for God like the idea of him having emotion and him not being all-knowing.
