Vogue and Its Competitors

Vogue is one of the most well-known magazine and fashion-based company in history. The iconic magazine covers, articles, and affiliation with the Met Gala all have propelled the magazine and brand to the top in the fashion world.

Vogue’s mission is to guide their consumers and customers to the right thing in the world of fashion. Their (Vogue.com) mission reads “In the overcrowded, unedited online space, who can you trust to curate the conversation surrounding fashion and culture? Positioning ourselves as the ultimate authority and resource, the aim of Vogue.com is threefold. One, to produce the strongest editorial coverage from the point-of-view of our internationally recognized editors, photographers and writers; Two, to engage Vogue.com readers in fashion’s most exclusive and educated online community, and lastly to prove vast outlets and opportunities for advertisers and consumers.”

Vogue’s services are obviously fashion-based. Their brand, magazine, website, and social media presence and content all serve as a way for people to understand and predict future fashion trends, brands, and styles. In addition to their magazine content, their “24-Hour” series has helped them gain a younger following on social media. For me, the 24-Hour series helped me get interested in Vogue which led me to consuming more of their media and content. Additionally, their red carpet coverage for the Met Gala has helped push their name to the front for recognition and association with the Met Gala.

Vogue’s main competitors are Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Elle, InStyle and Glamour magazines. All of these brands pose similar content, articles, covers, and magazine styles with their own twist to each.

Vogue’s core values are:

curricular innovation

collaborative methods

pioneering uses of technology

experimentation
