The Vampire Diaries is an 8 season TV show on Netflix that is all about supernatural creatures. Elena Gilbert, the main character in this show, finds out about the supernatural after living 16 years of her life as a normal human. One day everything changes when she meets vampires, finds out her best friend is a witch and that her parents knew about everything. She also finds out that she is a doppelganger. We are introduced to her first doppelganger, Katherine Pierce early onto the show. The whole show is about a rivalry between the two girls about boys. Later in the show we find out about another doppelganger, Amara. We find out that she started the bloodline of doppelgangers when she and her lover wanted to be immortal together. The took the immortality spell together and nature had to balance it out by creating doppelgangers for both. After Amara we find out about Tatia, she was not a big part in the show except to let the audience know that she is another doppelganger of Amara to balance out the immortality spell. Katherine Pierce was the next one in line and then Elena Gilbert was the last one shown in the show. This show is very uncanny because it includes so many supernatural creatures, The Vampire Diaries is about more than just doppelgangers, it is about vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids and many more. To add to the uncanniness of this show all the doppelgangers are not friends with each other. We find out they are pitted against each other when a vampire needs a doppelganger to break a spell. Katherine Pierce is a big villain in this show because she wants to survive and does not want to be killed by the vampire for a spell. She tries to get rid of all the other doppelgangers and keep herself alive.
