I am the type of person who always has to be busy with something. I find comfort in being occupied – it helps me erase the anxieties of everyday life. Whether it be performing self-care tasks such as painting my nails or doing a face mask, chores such as laundry or cleaning, or just plain entertainment, I need to keep myself busy on a daily basis.
Yesterday, when I completed my classes, I found myself lacking the motivation to get anything done. This was an issue for me because one of my closest friends was home, so I knew that I would have to be independent for the day. I started trying to battle this apathy by taking a long shower and folding the remainder of my laundry. After this, I took a power nap and went to my afternoon class.
After my late class, I got the majority of my homework done for the week, so I found myself lacking things to do.
I spent a few hours watching one of my favorite Netflix shows, and then turned my attention to getting food with my friends. After this, my friend finally came home and we were able to spend the rest of the day together.
I put a lot of stigma around the idea of a “lazy day” because I hate feeling like I haven’t accomplished anything, but I need to understand that there is comfort in listening to my body.
