So, today I was preparing for my commencement and seeing what I wanted to wear. I wore all black, with the awards that I got. For instance, I got a gold tassel and Gold cords for National Honor Society. Then, I left my house to; Great Plains Coliseum, where the commencement was. I was super anxious about graduating, but it’s an accomplishment I worked hard to get.
Going through metal detectors, I then got my name card. One of the teachers, Señora Sanchez, gave me my name card. She was so excited for me. I loved having her as a teacher in my 1st year of high school and getting to learn Spanish even though I am Hispanic. I am a No Sabo kid meaning I don’t know Spanish.
After, I talked to some friends and more educators from LHS. One of the educators that I loved was Mrs. Kylee Montgomery. She was my photographer that did my senior pictures and a teacher that I had. Then, it was time for the commencement, and I walked with my class with pride. I walked with loyalty, honor, and spirit. I got acknowledged for my academic achievements. For example, as mentioned before, gold tassel for a 3.5 or higher GPA for seven semesters. Including; Gold cords for National Honor Society for having fifteen plus community service hours and being in good standing.
After Mrs. Charlotte Oates talked with her speech, the LHS band and orchestra and I got to play Warrior Legacy by Soon Hee Newbold. I honestly was sad that it was my last time playing for the band and orchestra together. Then, one of the seniors, Nathaniel Bowman speech titled, The Dedication of a Wolverine Spirit. Then the LHS choir sang, Seasons of Love from the musical, Rent.
After the full orchestra, Nathaniel Bowman’s speech, and the choir did their parts was time to announce the class of 2021. I was first to go, and my whole family (specifically my siblings ) were screaming at the top of their lungs. Thankfully, I was like, please get me off the stage, so I can go sit down.
After the commencement, I was screaming at the top of my lungs about achieving a milestone.
