To: Mrs. Oates

During my time at Lawton High School, I had many head principals. From Dr. Regina DeLoach, Mr. Tony Jones, etc. One of the many principals that impacted me is Mrs. Charlotte Oates. I met her my junior year, and I was an office aide for the main office. I was looking at all of the things that she had done. She was head principal at MacArthur and Eisenhower High School. She only needed to be head principal at my school, and that was it. I love her, especially for her love for the Fine Arts Department. She got her bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. She then went to get her Master’s of Science in Education Leadership from Cameron University. She was very open to ideas, especially with the culture at Lawton High School. I love the leadership that she holds very much. I sometimes get jealous of how she contributes her time.

She was also one of the few people that put my heart at OU. She told me how gorgeous the South Oval is and the environment there. I told her my time, and she loved hearing every moment I made.

She is no longer the principal at Lawton High School. She is the director of the Life Ready Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. The Life Ready Center (LRC) is Lawton’s first-ever collaborative center for high school students! As an extension of the three high schools (Lawton High, Eisenhower, and MacArthur). The LRC offers concurrent courses and AP courses. It also has introductory and advanced elective opportunities.

I forever love her leadership and the dedication she made to Lawton Public Schools.

Mrs. Oates shaking my hand after getting my diploma.
