So, growing up, I grew up with 2000’s hits. For example, Panic at the Disco, Jesse McCartney, James Blunt, etc. One song that stands out a lot to me is One Step At A Time by Jordin Sparks. I loved this song, and especially in the beginning. In the beginning, there are sounds of high heels as if someone is walking on a a runway. I love the song, and the lyrics behind it.
One of the lyrics that stands out to me is:
“It’s gonna happen when it’s supposed to happen and we find the reasons why one step at a time.”
How the song came to be:
Co-writer Lauren Evans on how the song came to be. The lyrics were written while overlooking the ocean:
“We thought about who we were writing for and Jordin came to mind. I was familiar with her story, how she auditioned in Los Angeles but didn’t make it to Hollywood Week and had the courage to audition again. I listened to the track and pictured her heels walking on the sidewalk. I blurted out, ‘One step at a time.”
