It’s Been a Year Without You

July 25, 2022

Today marks the year that you haven’t been with me. I remember the eternal smile and the stories you told me about your childhood. Every infant you’ve taken care of, you adopted as your own. You guided me to be a better person and taught me how to love. You had numerous grandchildren, and shockingly, you have so many. Twenty-two grandchildren. Twenty-one great-grandchildren. You loved every piece I played on my viola, including Amazing Grace to be the one you adored. You saw me walk across the stage when I graduated high school. You had a scathing attitude that I loved, and everyone loved the comebacks. I’ve admired that you loved the Wizard of Oz and especially the song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I wish I could’ve held your hand one last time and kissed you on your forehead. I remember your final wish being for me was to keep on playing my instrument. I’ll celebrate your life. I will talk about the stories you told me to my future children!! I love you forever!!
