Harry Styles released a song called “As It Was.” The lyrics, personally, struck me when I listened to this song for the first time on the radio. The beat was good, and the guitar background felt aesthetically pleasing to the ear. I love the vibes that I could see. For example, over the years changing my appearance, losing, and cherished friends along the way.
I chose this title for this blog because it has a connection with people I’ve made with over the years. Now I know that life has its moments, especially when it comes to friends that I made that may last a lifetime, or till when a designation of a time like high school or even college in my case.
Let’s take high school as an example. When I got to Lawton High School, I thought my friends would be there for me for the next four years. I knew quickly people change over time and that the friend group was shrinking. The environment at LHS was not your typical kind of high school, even though it was close to a military base. Over the years, I learned to adapt to losing people and make it normal for me. However, I would thank Lawton High for the memories that I got to cherish and what I get to leave behind there. I wouldn’t have done it without the teachers, faculty, staff, and all the phenomenal support system outside of LHS. For example, my parents and other organizations helped me.
Now, let’s talk about college. The environment was such a 360 when I came to OU. Honestly, the resources and the friends I’ve made are outstanding. They are out of this world. I love how many people could be in my shoes and go for the same degree as me. I love how the environment is judgment-free, and is something that high school didn’t have at all. Especially when it came to some teachers and others; I thought that it would be hard; it’s not. It’s more of the transition of being away from home and getting the experience that every student at the University of Oklahoma should have. I personally love the people that I get to call my friends. I’d want to thank the professors and instructors I got to have. Here’s to more memories and success!! Boomer Sooner!!
